About Smith & Cross

Made entirely from Wedderburn and Plummer pot still distillates, Smith & Cross bursts with bold notes of caramelized banana, tropical fruit, and spice, finishing earthy and dry. This is unapologetically old-school rum – no added sugar, no chill filtration, no shortcuts. Bottled at Navy Strength (57%), it’s a powerhouse in Tiki drinks, punches, and any classic that calls for real Jamaican depth.

It shines in a Daiquiri or Mai Tai, but don’t stop there. Try it in a Kingston Negroni, where its spice and funk balance sweet vermouth and red bitter. Or stir it into a Martinez with Cocchi Vermouth di Torino, maraschino, and orange bitters—a cocktail with a reggae soul.

Origins

The mark of Smith & Cross traces its lineage to one of England’s oldest producers of sugar and spirits. Its history dates back to 1788 with a sugar refinery located at No. 203 Thames Street by the London Docks. Over time, the firm and its partners became prominent handlers of Jamaica rum, with extensive cellars along the river Thames. Smith & Cross today stands as successors in trade to Smith & Tyers and White Cross, both having previously operated side by side for generations in the house of what is today Hayman Distillers.
